Review of Super (2010) by Gde A — 06 Nov 2012
I Enjoyed The Premise "Super" More Than I Did The Actual Film. James Gunn's Movie Centers On Frank, A Sad Sack Whose Wife Has Just Left Him For A Drug Dealer. Frank Is Played By Rainn Wilson.
Frank Believes That The World Is Devoid Of Goodness. Frank Then Creates A Crime-Fighting Alter Ego Named The Crimson Bolt. As The Crimson Bolt, Frank Fights Crime With A Pipe Wrench. He Soon Finds A Sidekick In Libby, A Young Woman Who Loves Comic Books And Likes Frank.
Frank Makes It His Mission To Get Sarah Back. The Film Is Uneven And Somewhat Racist, But The Central Premise Is Compelling Enough To Hold Your Attention. Ellen Page Plays Libby And Completely Steals The Show.
Page Is One Of My Favorite Actresses And She Shines In Every Single Scene. Libby Is Strange, Intense, And Hypersexual. The Film Fails To Live Up To It's Sensational Premise And The Third Act Is Excessively Violent.
Still, James Gunn's "Super" Is An Extremely Edgy And Enjoyable Film.
