Review of Super (2010) by Robert I — 22 Jan 2013
And I've finally finished the "Real Life Superheroes" trilogy joined by "Kick Ass" and "Defendor". This is definitely the weakest of the three, but still a good time for fans of superheroes.
James Gunn's previous film "The Specials" focused on the idiosyncrasies of heroes, which like Frank Miller and Alan Moore also choose to focus on is: Violence and sex. "Super" takes the same stance, but there is still good intention behind the mean-spiritedness.
Like The Punisher, this is a film where the ends justify the means. And that's what I find most appealing of this superhero film.
