Super is another version of what a normal superhero would like in "real life," but it's more Observed and Report than Kick Ass. It goes to some pretty dark and violent places, although there is humor mixed in too, and features strong work from Rainn Wilson and Ellen Page.
However, James Gunn never really gets a grip on what Super is supposed to be, as it's not exactly a fun movie and is largely missing sharp social commentary to explain the darker moments.
