Review of Super (2010) by Cooper H — 25 Mar 2016
When you consider the extremely low budget and modest goals, the fact that this movie exists with this cast is heroic in itself. The film is a labour of love and the commitment of everyone involved in the project shows. Gunn's message is very clear and the graphic nature of the violence has more purpose than violence for violence sake. My only real criticism is with the ending that, in my opinion, detracts from Gunn's message by avoiding showing real consequences for Frank's actions.
This film is definitely a hidden gem. If you like dark humour and don't mind your superheroes acting "not-so-super", then see it.
