Review of Sunshine (2007) by Hevatin — 27 Sep 2013
Good acting, good special effects, solid dialogue, good cinematography....... no character arc and bad story.
Through the first and second acts I started to get the feeling that rather than a story, what I was watching was a string of technical mishaps which the characters need to get out of. I didn't get the feeling that there was any character in the movie who was changing in any way or learning anything but that I can live with.
I can't live with a bad story.
The third act is ridiculous with the addition of a character that makes no sense whatsoever and there was no setup for.
If you are a big Sci Fi fan, who can live with flaws as long as you get some decent special effects and passable story, you'll probably be fine with this movie.
If you are someone who is more particular about story without regard for genre you are going to be iffy on this one, trust me.
Overall not bad but it ain't Boyle's best, that's for sure.
