Review of Sunshine (2007) by Ian L — 05 Aug 2014
With the depth of characterisation of the Towering Inferno, and dialogue and sets out of Acorn Antiques, this is a truly awful film. Danny Boyle tends towards self-indulgence at the best of times, but he has excelled himself in that regard here. The ridiculous character of Pinbacker who had morphed into a super human reptile-man sums the film up - incoherent.
There was supposed to be some social, political and (oh no!) philosophical comment in there. I guess it got lost or maybe I was dazzled not by the failing sun but the collapse into absurdity of this film that time will soon forget.
