Review of Sunset Boulevard (1950) by Thomas O — 02 Jan 2012
Sunset Boulevard takes us into the world of Norma Desmond, a silent film star who has become a recluse since she stopped making pictures. Norma is played by actual silent film star Gloria Swanson who portrays this eccentric movie star well.
This is a very interesting movie as it let's us see into the world of Hollywood itself and what can be the consequences when it tires of you. Norma suffers the delusion that she is still as famous and still very much a big star.
It is a bittersweet tale filled with bright moments and scenes that cause you to shake your head. It is a classic that holds up well, and we can all see the effects today of when Hollywood loves you and then leaves you.
