Review of Sunset Boulevard (1950) by Rick Q — 25 May 2012
Billy wilder's 'sunset boulevard" is definitely a masterpiece, and one of, if not the best, movie about hollywood I have ever seen. gloria swanson plays norma desmond, a former silent film star who can't let go of the past and lives in denial that her stardom is still existent.
swanson plays the character in a very intense and creepy way. it's something that is definitely needed to be seen as it's one of the greatest performances ever captured on film. the film isn't without some of wilder's sense of humor and witty writing, but it's definitely one of his more serious films.
