Review of Sunset Boulevard (1950) by Cullen S — 17 May 2013
Gloria Swanson gives what could be the performance of a century. It is fitting that Norma Desmond, who could "say anything she likes with her eyes", peers into the viewer and makes them feel for the shadow of a star that she is.
The brilliance of this movie also lies in the format, where William Holden narrates his experiences ex post facto. This is a true classic, and causes the viewer to wish that movies were still made like this.
