Review of Sunrise (1985) by Darryl J — 10 Apr 2008
Some stories could only be told in silent films. This is one of them. It would be deemed entirely too simplistic if it was a regular movie that was made nowadays. Murnau makes this film into the masterpiece that is by making the world dreamlike.
I felt like I was just floating along with these characters and enjoying the superb craftmanship of this film. The cinematography is perfect and his use of superimposed images was groundbreaking then and still holds up today.
