Review of Sunrise (1985) by Aj V — 04 Apr 2011
Though sometimes not mentioned, this, along with WINGS (1927) were the first motion pictures to win the Best Picture Oscar. The story about temptation, redemption and infidelity is timeless. I love the ironic twist at the end and the symbolism throughout. This is a love story in its simplest form. The way this movie is shot was way of ahead of its time and beautifully directed and scored. This is a prime example of how motion pictures can be art without a single word spoken. This is a masterpiece in cinema and one that every film buff or movie fan should watch at least once in their life. This is one of the best films I have ever seen!
Grade: A+.
