Review of Summer of Sam (1999) by Steve S — 10 Aug 2004
Really an odd movie. Has such as strange feel about it. Very thought provoking though, an interesting look at how one man's actions just drove people mad. Really makes you think of how racial, social and emotional states just seem to overshadow reasonable thinking. The atmosphere of the movie at times is just weird and there is far too much sex, although now that I think of it it could have been Spike Lee's way of creating a sort of messed up state of mind in the viewer, so that you can place yourself in the movie.
Anyway I'm not quite sure what to think, I did like most of it, I found it a bit long, and again too much sex, but it really had me goin the whole time, very interesting. For now i'll give it a 6 on 10.
