Review of Summer Hours (2008) by Alex B — 11 Oct 2010
This film, about the (defeated, obsolete) pre-neoliberal bourgeois fetishization of family, legacy, beauty/art/art objects, love, and nature/country living, and the neoliberal bourgeois obsession with money and mobility, obviously serves the purpose of encouraging the (French) bourgeoisie to donate their inherited art objects to museums (the Musee d'Orsay) to avoid paying estate tax.
The old bourgeoisie indeed belong in museums, just as the new bourgeoisie belong in gulags.
