Review of Sullivan's Travels (1941) by Erik G — 15 Jun 2009
Now on my list of favorite movies. It's a perfect combination of two genres that shouldn't really work together, wacky screwball comedy and social issue movie, into a third genre, the movie about moviemaking, and it's perfect at all three.
It is also indeed a smidgen retroactively funnier because of the title of the serious movie Sullivan wants to make. I wonder if Joel McCrea was this good in any other movies.
