Review of Sukiyaki Western Django (2007) by Faust C — 06 May 2010
This movie haunts me, largely, I think, because of the juxtaposition of the Japanese actors, the post-samurai ideal, the gorgeous costumes and sets with the elements of the Western. Swords and guns, elaborate Japanese buildings and the sere desert landscape make for a fascinating mix.
It is not the best or most original story, not the best or most original movie, but it is outstanding and I have watched it almost half a dozen times.
