Review of Suicide Squad (2016) by Brady L — 30 Jul 2017
This movie is an enjoyable romp through the minds and eyes of villains. Going in expecting a group of reluctant heroes to be put in a situation that was part doing something good and part survival made me realize that this movie does work to a degree.
Are there issues with this film, of course, but when you have big names on the screen in marquee roles whilst also having smaller actors in major roles will never work out for all involved. The extended Blu-Ray cut does more to flesh out a few of the characters but I did have an issue with how much Harley, Deadshot and Enchantress were explored while disavowing Diablo and Killer Croc to basically being there for warm bodies.
Yes, we do see a little of Diablo's story in the bar sequence but it is so small and inconsequential compared to the overall story which is Diablo and his power. Despite that, I truly enjoyed this film and will gladly show it to others and recommend it to those on the fence.
Even if in the end you dislike the film, at least you can say you saw it and can make your own opinions based on facts you've experienced.
