Review of Suicide Squad (2016) by Peter W — 07 Aug 2018
Suicide Squad may not quite be the resurrection of the DCEU that most people were hoping but still marks a slight improvement over Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice thanks to a talented ensemble cast, fun action sequences, amazing visuals and a more humourous tone than previous DCEU outings as well as a shorter runtime for those who were exhausted with the overlong runtime of BvS.
EDIT: I've just now realized this is probably the weakest movie in the DCEU. While I still stand by the things I praised intially, I've still noticed the more glaring problems: little screen time for Joker and even then, it's not the Joker, it's a gangster cosplaying as the Joker, trying too hard to be DC's Guardians of the Galaxy and a villain more bland than most of the non-Loki pre-MCU Phase 3 villains combined. The movie had potential but Warner Bros. should really not be all that meddlesome. David Ayer had potential but this movie is the weakest in the DCEU.
