Review of Suicide Club (2001) by Jason R — 10 Apr 2008
"Sublime" and "Deep", two adjectives that shouldn't be associated with this movie. Was it bad...o yeah. Is it a cult film...probably will become one. Deep down though, I admit I liked a lot of parts to it.
But after giving it some thought I realised how weak the message was, and how distorted its message was. "Severing the connection to ourselves"...the philosophy makes no sense. If the movie has no thesis or good story to follow, then why should I subject other people to watch it.
Maybe the english subtitles fucked up the film? I hardly doubt that though, considering all we're left with is a snuff film. The director tried to be too much like Michael Haneke.
