Review of Suicide Club (2001) by Davis V — 26 Apr 2008
The Japanese can do creepy horrors about metaphysical torment about as well as any culture; see the original version of Pulse for evidence. This, however, is a poor excuse for a film. The concept of a death cult is alarming, but development of this theme is incomprehensible and, at times, laughable.
It's like the creators have spent the entire time arguing about who had the better mechanism for driving people to commit suicide and, couldn't decide, so stuck them all in.
Give this film about as much room as you would a passing express train!
