Review of Suicide Club (2001) by Dan G — 26 Mar 2009
Neat concept, poor execution. I'd heard so much great stuff about this film so it proved to be a huge disappointment for me when I found myself quite bored and underwhelmed with it. There aren't really any characters to become invested in, the gore is repetitive as all but one or two of the many deaths are people jumping off buildings or in front of trains and the "why is this happening?" is never explained.
Sometimes neglecting to sum up a "why" strengthens a film, but not here as with the teenie bopper music and the kiddie cult interrogations at the end it's clear that some attempt was made to explain something but I don't think it really helped.
Again, a great, really spooky concept but it's not really worthwhile due to really poor execution.
