Review of Suffragette (2015) by Mark D — 08 May 2016
I've been on a kick of serious dramas lately. This one was just ok. The core(true) story itself is infuriating, and makes me pissed off at my own gender. Thing is, the movie about this very important part of history felt incomplete. Or maybe it should have been about the woman who started it instead of a side group.
It was ok, certainly, and did enough to keep me interested.
The actresses are predictably good in these parts, and the movie looks great for the time it's representing.
It's hard to pinpoint what's missing. Better characterization maybe? A little exposition on why the menfolk are so resistant to giving this crucial right to the women they (supposedly) love and respect?
