Review of Sudden Death (1995) by Garret K — 18 Jun 2007
This is the best movie of all time. JVD, the Pittsburgh Penguins, "Lucky" Luc Robitaille, terrorists, explosions, children in danger...what more could a person with a heart and soul could ask for from a cinematic adventure? Nothing! That's what you can ask for.
You can chew on my rhetorical question, mull it over a slurpee, bag of jalepeno chips, and "Sudden Death". The only movie that could top "Sudden Death" is "Sudden Death 2: Return of the Fan", where Wesley Snipes, reviving his role as Bobby Rayburn, teams up with JVD to battle international soccer superstar David Beckham at a Cleveland Cavaliers basketball game where he holds an orphanage of infants for ransom when they take in the basketball game.
Sounds swell, doesn't it? What's that? This isn't a real movie? Well movie execs worldwide...take my idea, no charge...just make it a masterpiece! Seriously though, Sudden Death is a guilty pleasure.
What a terrible premise, but it takes a backseat to some mindless explosions, tension, and action, complemented by a subtle Belgian accent...I love this movie, and all movies like it. High five!
