Review of Sudden Death (1995) by Naische F — 22 Dec 2008
Van Damme plays a fire inspector who happens to the only person who can thwart a villain from an assasination attempt on the Vice-President at the final of a major hockey game. Great action from the school of Bruce Willis in 'Die-Hard'.
Van Damme plays a fomer Canadian fireman by the name of McCord (not John McClane). Powers Boothe gives the performance of a lifetime, as an agent who wants revenge against the government but is a tue patriot, who is not afraid to kill hostages to mean business.
His performance belongs up there with Alan Rickman from the 1st 'Die-Hard', very suave and demented. It is too bad that he never got the roles that he was suited to play for such a talent! A lot of paralles and John McClane moments make this an entertaining watch! A real guilty pleasure for sure!
