Review of Sucker Punch (2011) by Theo M — 21 Jan 2013
Why didn't I notice this movie before, and why is it rated so low? Sure, "Sucker Punch" is about the worst title you can give to a movie of this kind. It's about a girl that tries to escape an asylum by using her fantasy.
What you get is a violent yet wonderfully orchestrated mix of Girl Interrupted, the Matrix, Showgirls, Inglorious Bastards, Inception, Lord of the Rings, Kill Bill, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Harry Potter and probably a few more movies I can't think of right now.
The music is good, the camera work is good, the plot within a plot within a plot is well done, the special effects are great, the actors are good. Emily Browning (who also starred in Sleeping Beauty) is stunning.
If this won't turn into a cult movie, I must be losing my mind.
