Review of Sucker Punch (2011) by Joe A — 26 Sep 2013
Visually, no one can argue the style and flow is sexy flawless. The camera often goes from one dramatic setting to the next without a break, showing exceptional editing. The music drives and enhances the visual, often making it into a music video the way music videos should be.
The story can be a little weak in the sense you must put yourself in the mindset of late 1800's orphan stories while being bombarded with robots, swords, dragons, zombies, guns and steampunk everything. If you can get past that, the storyline is true to itself and the characters.
The actors wield certain parts a little heavy but everyone concerned portray their characters clearly and fully. The lead, Emily Browning as Babydoll, is the least interesting character but she still gives it enough weakness and strength to make you root for her.
