Review of Submarine (2011) by Dylan C — 09 May 2012
This is a brilliant indie dramedy that, though relying on that familiar post-Napoleon quirkiness, takes a cue from existential thrillers like Le Samourai and romantic classics a la The Graduate. Throw in some cinematography and music clearly inspired by the French New Wave, and you've got the best modern romance I've seen since 500 Days of Summer.
