Strengths: Emasculated cuckold father, mothers gets wrapped up with a motivational speaker.
Weaknesses: Hard to identify with bold yet nebulously naive protagonist, unattractive co-star.
"Girls" on HBO is truthful. "500 Days of Summer" is truthful. This is just whacky enough to be a fun watch, but is definitely not based on enough true-to-life events that allows an audience to plug themselves in and identify with the protagonist. And you know what? That's OK.
