Walks the tightrope between genuine and cliché. Good performances help it keep moving forward, even if there's not an original thought in the whole film. You can see everything coming a mile away, but that doesn't mean it's not like a bowl of Chicken Soup when you're sick.
You know what you're getting, and if you like soup, well then why complain if it's not Filet Mignon?
