Review of Stuck in Love (2013) by Symbioted — 18 Oct 2020
As a person who’s not really into romance or comedy movies, this impressed me, and it was definitely worth watching. The story is centered around three main characters, their life, their beliefs in love, and their relationships with each other and the other people in their lives. The one thing I loved about the film is how fleshed out and interesting every character is, even the side characters. Each character has their own personality and beliefs. As a teenager myself, I can relate to everyone in the movie, young and old. The actors and actresses did a fantastic job of making their realistic. Lily Collins’ performance on her character, Sam, was my absolute favorite and it interests me to see more of her as an actress.
The soundtrack and song choices are another big thing I enjoyed about Stuck In Love. The soundtrack is upbeat, engaging, and fun. Some of the song choices that were mentioned or played like ‘Between the Bars’ by Elliot Smith, or ‘I’ve Just Seen Her Face’ by The Beatles are songs I’ve never heard before but really enjoyed after listening. I added them both to my music playlist.
Now let’s get to what I personally didn’t like. One thing I see many reviewers and critics comment on that I 100% agree with is how predictable the movie is. There are many times in the film where things happen and you think ahead of time about what’s going to happen next and your predictions end up coming true. Now, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing and it didn’t ruin the movie for me but this just made it feel like nothing surprising or new was going to happen.
In the end, this is a very wholesome, feel-good movie that satisfied me from start to finish. I’m writing this review a few days after watching this, and I’m wanting to watch it again. I highly suggest you give this a watch as I think Stuck In Love is a film that is not as bad people make it out to be.
