Review of Stuck (2002) by Christopher B — 01 Dec 2008
A fantastic film from the great Stuart Gordon. I found I was really quite sad through a lot of this film, the black comedy working only to make me not feel so terrible about humanity.
SPOILER.
This film reminded me a lot of a Stephen King short story I love, where King wrote about a guy in a hopeless situation (ready to be tortured) only to get away. King said whenever he watches a movie about someone about to go through a horrible torture, he always wants the person to escape and it never happens. So he made it happen. Gordon does the same thing with reality in this film. Anyone who knows the story knows Tom's destined to a horrible fate, but I like Gordon's take on reality a lot better.
