Review of Stroszek (1977) by Grant W — 08 Nov 2007
A fairly strong film, especialy the first half in Germany. It dragged somewhat once they arrived in America, but that may have been the point. Actually... that probably was the point. Some of the 'non-actor actors' were dissapointing for me and made me cringe a little, but Bruno S. was (as everyone is quick to point out) brilliant. The musical scores to this film seem to haunt me.
I initially watched this out of curiosity: I wanted to see the last film Ian Curtis watched before hanging himself. I wanted to see if it would lend itself any possbile influence. Now I've seen it, I'm sure it did. The chicken won't stop dancing... the chicken stops dancing HERE.
