Review of Stroszek (1977) by Martin T — 17 Dec 2009
A musician moves from Berlin to Wisconsin with his old neighbor and prostitute girlfriend to escape her pimps and start a new life in the land of opportunity. When they get to America, reality starts sinking in and the reality is that they are worse off then they started.
Like other Herzog movies, this one is slow moving. Also, it's not a movie that will put you in a good mood because it's depressing from beginning to end. The main character is living in a country where he is unable to communicate with the people around him and everything that he has is being taken away from him.
Oh, and the ending has to be one of the most bizarre and memorable things I've ever had the pleasure of watching.
