Review of Stripes (1981) by Rj M — 02 Aug 2008
Bill Murray was never funnier than he was in this 1981 classic. So many classic lines, and so many classic characters. Not to mention the legendary graduation scene when Murray and his platoon show everyone how it's done when it comes to performing in unison.
The basic training half of the movie shows Murray squaring off against hard nosed drill sergeant Warren Oates. The second half has our boys in Germany assigned to test out the Army's newest weapon, the EM50, a heavily armed recreational vehicle.
Director Ivan Reitman turns out a classic, politically incorrect, 80's laugh fest. One of the funniest movies ever made, from a time when Bill Murray was one of the funniest people in Hollywood.
