Review of Strictly Ballroom (1992) by Mary J — 27 Mar 2008
Strictly Ballroom is fabulous because it is story- and dance- driven. If I were to pull a film out of the past to put in this one's place, I would pick Top Hat or Swing Time (Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers), or go for the obvious Singing in the Rain.
However, I don't think one of these films would inspire a novice to watch more musicals. I think Strictly Ballroom would. So it makes the list!
