Review of Strictly Ballroom (1992) by Patrik L — 17 Oct 2008
I am in reviewing this film in danger of dislocating my fingers trying not to use terms like 'lovely' which would make me seem more square than people who still use the word 'square'. That aside however this is a wonderful romantic film.
It is part of Luhrmann's red curtain trilogy (together with Moulin Rouge and Romeo and Juliet) and it may even be the best of the three, or certainly challenging Molin Rouge for the title. To all you guys out there I will say that this is a bit of a chick flick, but why would you be afraid of that? Afraid you might cry? I dare you to see it, you'll probably thank me afterward, it really is good.
Perhaps it should be said that this film is very different from Moulin Rouge visually, it's filmed in a more realistic manner. Now scurry off and see it.
