Review of Streets of Blood (2009) by Sarah P — 14 May 2010
Pretty poor New Orleans based thriller that could have been much better. Kilmer is so much better than this dreck. The plot basically revolves around two sets of cops and if they are bent/involved with drug gangs or not.
It's all a bit convoluted and I didn't really care about any of the characters. Sharon Stone's hilarious accent is good for a watch though, in her scenes with 50 Cent she looks like she's going to laugh (or fall asleep) as well which is basically what I was tempted to do through the entire movie.
50 Cent is almost passable (and forgettable, at least he doesn't try to put on a silly accent though) Jose Pablo Cantillo is decent as Pepe but like I mentioned before, overall it could have been so much better.
Direction is ropey at best, the story doesn't seem to know where it wants to go and the lighting of the entire movie is atrocious. Liked the fact Kilmer walks around gun fights in bright white shoes.
That's cool and he's effortlessly the best thing in the movie. It does say it all about a movie and it's distributors when the DVD box actually mis-spells one of its executive producers names on the back and spells it correctly again further on in the credits.
Avi Lener anybody? If you suffer insomnia or want to watch a bad movie for laughs give this a whirl otherwise don't bother.
