Review of Street Kings (2008) by John F — 25 Mar 2009
The general plot is way too predictable... I mean FAR too predictable. The outcome of certain situations and other details are "original" but the general plot? Predictable. Especially with Reeves as the male lead: He plays Tom Ludlow and instead I see a bad ass Jack Traven.
I don't want to ruin what I see as so squarely obvious but you take a good helping of "Dirty Harry", mix it with "Training Day" and other dirty cop flicks, and then a touch of "The Substitute" and just a dab of "Speed" (to cover that Jack Traven reference above) and you have "Street Kings".
Oh, and this is an absolute WASTE of Hugh Laurie. He may have needed something to do while "House MD" was on hiatus but he should stick to Comedy.
