Review of Street Kings (2008) by Jessica A — 10 Jan 2013
Keanu reeves' attempt at an oscar, or just plainly acknowlegement that he did more than play Ted, or Neo, was ripe with growth and intensity, while still having remnants of his usual delivery. a small boy in a big man's world.
but given the plot reeves style of acting came in handy in playing corrupt cop, Tom Ludlow. especially in scenes revealing twist that could implicate his character further into the seedy world of LA cops.
but surprisingly, it's forest whitaker whose performance was lackluster and overexaggerated. whitaker's performace as Ludlow's superior and surrogae father-figure comes across as comical and abrasive.
