Review of Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009) by Mike M — 27 Aug 2009
I thought this movie was decent over all, it certainly was a HUGE improvement over the mockery of a Street Fighter movie produced in 1994. That movie was an embarrassment to cinematography, and although it followed the video game storyline fairly accurately.
The new Street Fighter movie is much more realistic, much more gritty, and has a darker feel to it.
The stars do as best as they can with Kreuk being front and center. She does a serviceable job but doesn't really garner any sympathy. McDonough appears to be having some fun in playing the big heavy, Bison.
In all, something of a waste of time with a pedestrian plot and barely decent fight sequences. Still, it is better than its predecessor, but that's not really saying much.
OVERALL C-.
