Review of Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009) by James R — 31 Mar 2010
Nobody expects Shakespeare dialog or complex characters from a movie inspired by a video game. But neither does anyone expects a well loved video fighter end up this bad in a movie. They try to make things meaningful and interesting by adding side kicks, personage, colleagues and giving them each a little background. They also try filming with a different angle and tell the standard empty story with an unusual manner . (Note the key word "TRY") Unfortunately all these donâ??t work.
Anyone who thinks the frail and under nourished Kristin Kreuk can take the role of the acrobatic fighter Chun-Li needs to get their eyes check. She does not even run like an athlete. (Check out Carrie-Anne Moss in The Matrix and you know what I mean).
In the end, the only thing that is moderately nice to watch is the movie poster.
