Review of Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009) by Aaron C — 07 Mar 2011
Despite the iffy plot, dubious casting (transformation from a chinese 5-yr old into a pan-asian 10-yr old, then into a vastly-different-looking adult Kreuk) and lack of spectacular CGI/pyrotechnics, I found this lazy mid-afternoon viewing surprisingly enjoyable.
Perhaps it was the funny Cantonese/Mandarin accents, or just the familiarity of seeing the doting father Edmund Chen (a Singaporean actor), or the nostalgia of actually catching the Princess Leia hairdo on screen again, nearly 30 years later.
Whatever it was, this movie had the best elements of Kung Fu Panda, Karate Kid & Slumdog Millionaire, with a bit of Castle thrown in :).
