Review of Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009) by Chris C — 24 Aug 2012
Lacks the comedic value of Souza's 1994 version and defintely doesn't compare to the anime movie or the series very well. A pretty generic and generally stilted acted reboot that tries to hard to be serious and comes off as boring and uninteresting.
If anything to say the one sided fight between Van Damme and Raul Julia in the first adaptation was a better fight than most of these fights. And turning Bison from a wacky cape wearing psychotic dictator super villian into a irish blond haired psychotic gangster with streaks of misogny isn't helping.
And Ming-Na had better charisma than Kreuk as Chun-Li, plus she was more asian than Kreuk. And by the way Chris Klein probably destroyed his career with this movie, giving one of the baddest performances i've seen since Battlefield Earth.
Once again, there are people who say Transformers 2 is worst than this, yeah right.
