Review of Strangers on a Train (1951) by Hannah Rose C — 21 Jun 2012
Alfred Hitchcock's classic Strangers on a Train is the story about the professional tennis player named Guy Haines (Farley Granger) who is in love with another woman, but his wife won't allow a divorce. On a train a total stranger, Bruno Anthony (Robert Walker) come up to him and talk with him for ours, one of their discussion includes a possible swap murder where Guy is suppose to kill Bruno's father and Bruno is suppose to kill Guy's wife. While Guy thought this scenario as a jokes, Bruno really meant it, and actually killed Guy's wife, Bruno just want him return the favor, and he want stop bugging Guy until he actually do it.
You might recognize this kind of story for other movies or TV-series, but as always Hitchcock was the first one, and Strangers on a Train is indeed a suspenseful thriller, with a very interesting, creepy psychotic villain. Absolutely great. Thumbs up.
