Review of Strangers on a Train (1951) by Michael J — 09 Oct 2013
Well, its Hitchcock! One could say its both a slight change with similarity to his past movies. A good chunk of the movie happen in very little closed sets but then again, unlike Rope and Dial M for Murder, the whole takes place in a few more than 1 set.
But going to the story although the idea of swapping murders may sound as a very cliche' topic now, you could imagine how innovative it would have been in those time, nevertheless inspite of that fact, he manages to create such tension and the whole just keeps peaking to the final 20 to 30 mins of the film. It pretty much reminds me of the Scorsese way of directing the gangster films. If your a fan of Hitchcock films and have not seen this one, please do!
