Review of Stranger Than Paradise (1984) by Kevin P — 27 Jun 2007
Everyone should consider Jim Jarmusch a hero. He gave us the modern concept of low budget filmmaking and made a career dedicated to it. The 90s tainted his approach by commercializing low budget to represent Hollywood taste, but Jarmusch still stands tall with his vision.
This film, his first, is almost too mininimalist for my taste, but gages a good theme in losing one self to a world where everything looks the same and sets a distinct style that speaks for the storytelling.
