I love Will Farrell in his over-the-top comedies. This is quite a different role for him, understated; he brings the fictional character Harold Crick to life, even as the author, another character wonderfully played by Emma Thompson, brings him to life.
...and death? Maggie Gyllenhaal is a quirky gal who could make a guy want her more than anything, I think. Love and connection is what this film is about.
