Review of Stranger Than Fiction (2000) by Lock C — 20 Jan 2012
Will Farrell takes his turn as a serious actor, and, surprise of surprises, he does a fantastic job. His character's mundane existence, interrupted by an unlikely portent of his imminent demise, creates in him a desire to live his life in a way that he only thought possible in fiction.
I do not mind telling you that I was completely blown away by his performance...unexpected only begins to describe just how well he captured his role and transformed his character. The implausibility of the story's circumstances, which at first seem like an absurd plot device, eventually settle into the rest of the film, becoming as natural and organic as any other conventional film plot might.
