Will Farrell brilliantly nails the character here of an IRS businessman who hears a voice narrating his life as it slowly begins to drive him crazy.
Just as his character in Elf is amazingly consistent and hilarious, his character here is an ordinary man dealing with a disembodied voice that seems to envelop and control his life and thots.
His subtlety and restraint in the portrayal makes this an amazing movie.
I highly recommend this restrained comedy.
It has a catharsis about it. Tho mild, it touches on the difference between whether we play along with how our lives appear to be taking us in a predetermined direction, or if we will take the gift of our lives into a direction in which we make the choices for ourselves.
I was ready for more humorous interplay after the established Will Farrell character was set, but that did not detract from the film at all.
Enjoyable.
