One of the better late '70s horror TV movies. Based on the book "Summer of Fear" by Lois Duncan (the author of "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and "Stranger With My Face" among other essential reads for budding horror fans), and the first "mainstream" project for Wes Craven, who previously directed "The Last House on the Left" and "The Hills Have Eyes.

" But the most important part of the equation is Linda Blair. By 1978, Linda had gotten mixed up in a drug deal and that, combined with the spectacular failure of "Exorcist II: The Heretic" the year prior, meant that she was already headed into the "hasbeen" files.

The next year would bring the horrifying non-horror film "Roller Boogie" and a long string of dreadful B-movies for a long time. So in this stop gap between two of the worst movies ever made, Blair gives a fine performance in a somewhat-forgotten bit of scariness that still holds up pretty well.

(I have no idea what's up with the DVD cover though.).
