Review of Stranger by the Lake (2013) by Mark B — 06 Jun 2014
Apart from being an interesting concept, a merge of genres and possibly pushing the boundaries of what can be shown in a normal cinema, as opposed to a porn cinema I do not feel that this film deserves the ratings it has received.
In my opinion the characters do not react in plausible ways to events around them and the film becomes more lost and nonsensicle, particularly towards the finale. Instead of building the characters, and exploring the excellent potential of the main narrative; the film instead seems to just be content to fill in the gaps where dialogue and a story should be with unnecessarily drawn out, pointless, sex scenes.
Despite what other reviews are saying about this film, it?s not its graphic nature that it keeping it out of the mainstream.
